Master Bath...

Tonight after work we started to prep the master shower for KERDI (it is a waterproofing membrane that we are going to put in the shower). First we cut a hole in the sheetrock to find the wire that will be used to hook up the Digital Shower Controller. Then we searched for the nipple in the wall that will attach to the handheld shower... we eventually found it, we had covered it up with the luan plywood to stiffen up the curved wall and didn't cut the hole out so the sheetrock guys didn't cut it out either...oops. Then Tommy fixed the cutout for the rainshower on the ceiling...the directions have you frame out a 9"x14" hole in the ceiliing joists so that is what the sheetrock guys cut out but really it should be a 9"x9" hole for the sheetrock itself... oh well...it is fixed now. Then we put the chair rail tile on the top of the tub skirt...looks really nice...

Tom's dad is picking up the tile tomorrow from the TileShop so we will soon be busy with that.

Tile Cutting

We spent the day cutting tile... We bought 12"x12" travertine tiles from Home Depot for the bathroom walls and we are cutting them into 3" x3" tiles... it is a lot of cutting and then sanding of the edges, but in the end it is worth it. Actually purchasing 3"x3" tiles is about 4 times more expensive so we get what we want this way if we put in the work...

Tom's mom spend the day weeding... we let the weeds along the driveway get a little out of hand so there was a lot of work to get it back to looking good... The neighbor even stopped by to talk to her and said that the house "looks good again"... ooops... they came out of nowhere I promise! She ended up with a full truck to the top of the roof rack of weeds!!!

Tom's dad was assigned a project in the basement... He is building walls in the basement to close off the furnace and hot water heater area...

This Week...

We have been cutting tile most of the week... for the bathroom walls we needed to cut 4"x4" tiles out of 12"x12" tiles we got from Home Depot...

Tom's parents have been here a few times this week as well. Tom's dad built temporary stairs out of the sliding glass door and then he put finished stairs from the garage into the kitchen... everything looks nice...

Tom's mom has been working on the weeds... there are a lot of them

TILESHOP

Today we drove down to the TILESHOP before going to my parents. We ordered all the special tile for the master bath... We are using travertine tile from Home Depot for the majority, but the accent tiles are from the TILESHOP... They have a pretty good selection and a decent price... We are mostly buying Quartzite tile and some pebble tile for the floor of the master shower...

MASTER BATH - FLOOR TILE - DAY 1

We started laying the tile on the Master Bathroom Floor tonight. We are doing a basketweave pattern that we saw in a display at the TileShop. We had leftover travertine tile from when we cut up 18"x18" tile for the kitchen. The pieces were about 6" x 18", so we cut them to 6"x10" and we had the right size for our pattern.

A&A 3

Sunday we continued the work at Andre and Amy's... well Tommy was determined so he did while Andre went to work, Amy went on a roadtrip to bring Ryan to camp and I made a trip to the tile store in south jersey to try and finalize what we wanted to do. While we were all gone Tommy moved all of the dirt that was on the driveway to the backyard and made a swale for the water to drain. Then when I got back we piled some dirt on the island in their driveway.

Hooper had a blast! It had rained for an hour earlier in the day so when I got back and let him outside he was all in the mud. He ran around like a crazy dog, snorting up the muddy water, eating dirt and going nuts. He had a grand time and then I gave him a bath in a rubbermaid container. Fun Times!

A&A 2

We spent the night last night so when we got up we went outside to work some more. First Andre moved the rest of the log pile to the very back yard while Tommy sharpened the stump grinder teeth. I raked leaves with Ryan for the morning. Tommy graded the dirt piles in the front around all the trees. Andre cut stumps and his dad was grinding them away!

Then we had some burgers for Ryan's birthday. Ryan and his cousin burned some army guys in a fire. He is a bit of a pyro! And the helicopter continued to be fun for all

A&A 1

We left work early today and went straight down to Andre and Amy's. The kubotka was there along with the york rake and stump grinder and the plan was to grade the mounds of dirt they have on their property. Today we worked on moving the logs next to the shed with the kubotka. We moved them to the back and Tommy cut them into 20" pieces and Amy and I stacked them. Later in the day Tom's uncle and Andre got out of work and came and helped with the project.

We spent the night and played a little with Owen and Ryan. Tom got Ryan a helicopter for his birthday that is pretty fun to fly!
