J & J Floor Tile

Grout It Out

Went to Home Depot in the morning and picked up the last few tiles we needed and then we grouted. You can only mix a little bit of grout, enough to work with in 20 minutes... and then each new batch has to sit for 10 minutes and then you mix it again and then it is ready to go... so with all that downtime and the small batches it took all day. Another contributing factor to how long it took was the border around the room, it is much harder to get the grout in all those little nooks and crannies, but eventually we did. Also during the day Tommy was able to lay the hardiboard in the laundry room so we are ready to go with that when this bathroom is finished.

Tile III

Worked all day on the rest of the tile for the walls in the Jack and Jill Bathroom. Tommy was doing all the cut tiles while I just kept pushing along with full tiles and the ones he was cutting. We put the walls on a 45 so there were a lot more cuts than if we did laid them regular. Later in the afternoon Andre and Amy came for a visit. They are getting their final inspection for Certificate of Occupancy on Weds of this week, so they are finished with the house and had some time to come down in the snow and take a look at our progress. After they left we finished up the tile working till 11:30 to get it all installed and we were short two pieces of the top bull nose tile for the border.

Tile II

We took the day off yesterday and watched TV. Today we went back to the house and cranked up the heat : )… and did the two short walls in the shower, well the bottom half… we are getting faster but we ran out of the pencil borders and there is a lot of cutting so it takes a while.

Tile I

After work we started tiling. Tommy has the job of cutting while I get to lay the tiles… We started with the long wall in the tub area. And finished the bottom half and the border before it was too late to continue.
