A&A 2

We spent the night last night so when we got up we went outside to work some more. First Andre moved the rest of the log pile to the very back yard while Tommy sharpened the stump grinder teeth. I raked leaves with Ryan for the morning. Tommy graded the dirt piles in the front around all the trees. Andre cut stumps and his dad was grinding them away!

Then we had some burgers for Ryan's birthday. Ryan and his cousin burned some army guys in a fire. He is a bit of a pyro! And the helicopter continued to be fun for all

A&A 1

We left work early today and went straight down to Andre and Amy's. The kubotka was there along with the york rake and stump grinder and the plan was to grade the mounds of dirt they have on their property. Today we worked on moving the logs next to the shed with the kubotka. We moved them to the back and Tommy cut them into 20" pieces and Amy and I stacked them. Later in the day Tom's uncle and Andre got out of work and came and helped with the project.

We spent the night and played a little with Owen and Ryan. Tom got Ryan a helicopter for his birthday that is pretty fun to fly!

Radiant Floor 3

First of all I have to tell you that our little devil had some fun today while we were at work. He took the NEW blackberry charger and chewed to TINY TINY little pieces... something that I don't think even Tommy can salvage. He couldn't have atleast chewed the first one a little more... nope, not my devil... Good thing we don't leave anything plugged in because he is infatuated with cords!

Then we continued to work on the radiant floor heat in the master bath... We finished up the first layer of plywood, vacuumed up the sawdust from the router and then laid the tubing... It was close but we had about 3 feet extra. They only sell it in a max of 200 feet because that is the longest run you should have and we just made it... The second layer of plywood is a little tricky because you have to make sure you don't put a screw where the pipe is running... almost finished before we called it a night.

Radiant Floor 2

Today we worked on the rest of the plywood strips and then Tommy routed the returns on every other strip... It was kind of messy with the router and pretty dusty... a nasty job, but he finished. In the meantime I mowed the front lawn... We have 50% grass and 50% weeds...The bottom half of the frontyard has some pretty decent grass, but the top half has NOTHING... oh well... The backyard is pretty good as far as grass but it was too hot outside to continue mowing that.

Radiant Floor 1

Today we started on the radiant floor heat in the master bath... First Tommy touched up some spackle and I vacuumed up. We then cut 7" strips of plywood just to come upstairs and find out that the plywood we got is not thick enough for the radiant floor pipe... hmmm looks like that website wasn't correct... Oh well, anyone need 7" shelves... we jumped in the Hyundai truck (haha!) and got some thicker plywood at Home Depot. We recut them into 7" strips and started laying them out in the master bedroom. We got almost everything down except for the toilet room before we called it quits for the day...

FRONT DOOR TRIMWORK

Today Tommy finished the moldings on the window and sliding door in the kitchen. I then caulked, puttied and painted the rest of the crown in the kitchen and the window/sliding door. Did two coats of paint on the crown molding for the master bedroom. Tommy put the extension jambs on the circular window above the front door, curved the plastic molding and built the trim above the door. Then I painted the arched windows in the dining and office.

Almost all the trimwork is finished on the first floor!

TRAVEL FOR WORK

Both Tommy and I were on travel this week. Tommy left on Monday morning and came home from Maryland on Wednesday night. I went to work on Monday, flew to South Carolina on Tuesday and came home on Thursday night. Needless to say we were not able to get much done during the week.

Amy had Hooper on Tues and Weds and he did well. He got to play with the kids and protect the baby. Amy told me when I dropped Hooper off on Tues that she needed to get a rail because Owen is starting to roll around. She sent me this picture of Hooper laying next to the baby on the couch. Too bad I want Hooper back so she will still have to invest in a rail. :)

DEAR WATCHING

This morning I repainted a section of the kitchen ceiling. I guess when it got sprayed we missed going over it with the roller so you could see lines. It looks better now. Then Hooper and I worked on cleaning the kitchen floor today. There is still a haze from the grout on the travertine floor that I cannot get off. I have to be careful what I clean it. I can't use anything acidic because it will eat at the calcium in the travertine. It looks better then it did this morning but still not 100%. I guess I really did the cleaning while Hooper put his footprints and spent some time staring down the deer. He watched them for at least an hour.

ELLIPTICAL MOLDING

Tom worked on curving the plastic molding for the elliptical windows in the dining and office. He used the extension jamb that was provided with the windows and used the heat gun to warm up the plastic. With a little coercion the plastic bent around the extension jamb and after it cooled down he was able to nail them up.

I painted the 24 additional pieces of casing that Tom's dad picked up and dropped off for us the other day.

PIG ROAST

We spent the day at Mark's today. He decided to have a pig roast for the 4th of July. It was quite the show. He had the roasting pig, a punch fountain, and a cotton candy machine. There was a lot of food and everyone had a great time.
