COLD

We were outside today for most of the day. Tommy worked on cutting a majority of the 3"x3" tiles with funky cuts for around the tumbled stone in between helping his dad in the basement. He was working outside on the tile saw since it gets kind of messy and it was a little too cold!

I tackled fixing up the baseboard moldings. When Andre and Amy did their house they ordered too much molding so they sent it over to our house... but they stacked it when it wasn't completely dry... this created some sticky which left holes in the paint when it peeled off... I spent the entire day sanding them so that you could not longer see the holes... I still have to prime them and repaint them...

Tom's dad worked in the basement. He is doing some work on the heat so that we can hook up the mixing valve near the furnace for the radiant heat in the master bath and possibly the kitchen...

CROSSING OFF THE TO DO LIST

Today I caulked a few more things in the morning and then I moved on to painting them. I finished painting the crown in the family room, the crown in the master bath, the window in the sitting room and then I painted the wainscot in the laundry.

Tommy installed molding in the skylight, he trimmed the top piece of the window over the toilet in the master bath... He also trimmed all the doors upstairs to the correct height. He also fixed both the closet and master bathroom pocket doors. Then he moved on to finish the hardwood floor in the princess bedroom, but didn't finish before I was ready to start the hardwood floor in the Front J&J bedroom. We got about 10 rows finshed before the rubber on the hammer was completely ruined and we dented a good piece of wood trying to get it in... We really need to order a replacement rubber piece for the flooring hammer...

Caulk and Laundry

Tommy worked in the laundry room today... He pulled out the washer and dryer and installed the last piece of tile that we didn't install because we were missing a piece of waterproofing when we did it last time. Then he finished up the wainscot and fixed the pocket door to the laundry... He also installed the shelf over the cabinet. He glued up the corners of the floating crown so they are stiff.

Today I caulked... I caulked and puttied the closet in the rear J&J bedroom, the windows in the sitting room, the floating crown in the master, and the crown in the master bathroom.

PRINCESS BEDROOM

We got home a little early today from work because of the holiday tomorrow. We worked on finishing up as much as we could of the hardwood floor in the Princess Bedroom before we left for Tom's parents. The only part left is right along the wall. We need new blades for the tool we use to cut the door jambs and molding.

BRAZILIAN CHERRY

Hardwood floor was delivered today... 2200 sq ft of brazilian cherry... of course a majority of it is for the second floor and thankfully the delivery guys had a truck bed that lifts so that they could put the boxes through the second floor window... very cool!!!

I was adamant leading up to the delivery that we were not going to start installing any hardwood until everything else on our list of To Do was finished... but that didn't last long... somehow I changed my logic after seeing the floor and decided it would make more sense to break up the installation of the hardwood floor by the To Do list... the new rule is that the room has to be finished other than the floor in order to install it... so we started in the Princess Bedroom tonight... We got more than half done... it looks so pretty!

COMPLETED FRONT PORCH

I continued to work on the tile in the master shower today... didn't get as much done as yesterday but Tommy helped me out and got some of the more difficult parts done. I installed the tumbled stone on the curving top ledge and he cut some intricate pieces for the swoosh at the top.

Tom's dad finished up the front porch... He made a ring to cover the hole where the light fixture went, sealed it, and then later in the day he installed it.

Tommy worked some more on trimwork. He built the tops for the two windows in the master bathroom and installed crown molding in the skylight area of the master bathroom and finished the rest of the crown in the bathroom.

MASTER SHOWER and CROWN

I tiled today until all I saw were tiles... The small 3"x3" tiles that we cut a few months ago were on my to do list today... I got all the walls tiled by the end of the day... they only parts I didn't do were the pieces that needed some funkier cuts along the tumbled stone... The tiles worked really well on the curved walls....

Tommy was all over today doing trim work. His dad made the keystone for over the front door and that got installed. He finished up the trimwork on the eyebrow over the center garage door. He installed some crown molding in the master bathroom and put the crown molding on either side of the fireplace.

Tom's dad worked on the front porch... finishing up the siding and making the azek corbel pieces for the front door.

CROWN LIGHITING

Tom's parents were here today. They worked on the siding on the front porch (unfortunately I did not get a picture)... and Tom's mom cleaned up around the house... this morning the master bedroom looked like a tornado went thru, but when I walked in tonight it was soooo CLEAN!!! yay!

Tommy worked on the floating crown in the master bedroom tray ceiling. We had wedges cut at the spring angle of the crown a long time ago that he nailed up and then he nailed the crown to that... turned out really great... and of course he couldn't go to sleep without putting the rope light in and checking it out... It came out perfect.

I worked in the master bathroom some more. I put the little pencil molding around as the basemolding and then I put the crown type tile going up the curved wall... need lots of tape to hold them up...

I worked on the tile baseboard inside the shower and Tommy cut a few pieces for me.

BACK TO THE BATHROOM

Today we worked in the Master Bathroom again. Tommy worked on the access panel for behind the shower... we need access to that triangular section to get to the manifold for the shower nozzles, the manifold for the heat and an outlet. We found some sheetrock clips at home depot that slip over the sheetrock and hold the panel in place perfectly... I worked in the shower itself putting up the continuation of the border that we have around the entire bathroom. I had to tape the pieces up to get them to stay but it worked out

WORK WORK WORK

Tommy finished the molding on the front porch today. He bent a lot more pieces of azek for around the large window over the front door. He put all the molding on the front triangular part and finished up with some moldings on the curve. It came out awesome.

Tom's dad finished up the front stairs... They also look awesome.

I grouted the fireplace where I added the stone on Thursday. And then I grouted the rest of the walls in the master bathroom...

We got a lot done today!

This morning there as was a REMAX hot air balloon in the backyard... seemed pretty low... I love it how Hooper is scared of them. The "dragon" sound they make from the propane torch scares the crap out of him and he runs in the house and all the way upstairs... my poor baby...
