LAST DAY W/O SEWER

Tom worked in the family room finishing up the hardwood floor.  He had to do some routing of the kitchen floor tile because it was a little off at the entrance to the family room... He straightened it out so that the piece of hardwood wasn't tapered.  He also rounded over the tile to make the transition a little better.

I grouted the tub in the J&J Bathroom... and cleaned the tub in the master bathroom (it was really dirty from grouting)... and I wiped down the tile walls and floors in the master bath so that I can seal tomorrow.

Tom's dad also came down with some more sheetrock.  He spent his day in the basement putting little pieces of sheetrock on the ceiling around the pipes..

Then we made another trip to Home Depot to pick up a toilet for the downstairs bathroom... why?  because we are getting connected to the SEWER tomorrow... can you believe that?  I really hope they come... they cut the pavement on the street on friday and delivered a large backhoe so we should be good, but you never know... With the luck we have had so far with regard to the sewer I am not holding my breath...

BASEMENT SHEETROCK

Today was a busy day... First thing thismorning we had propane delivery... FUN!

I cleaned up the stairs... just in time... because the stair guy showed up to show us some railing samples and take measurements for nosing... He asked what kind of railing we wanted and when I said " I don't know, I haven't really looked"  he was shocked!!! Because when we got the stairs I had pictures printed and told him what I liked from each picture... This time I was unprepared!!!  But he showed us some books and I told him what I liked... and Tommy agreed.

Meanwhile, Tom's dad and Pawel arrived.  They worked in the basement all day putting up sheetrock... They got quite a bit done with occasional help from Tommy.  They used all the sheets that we had...

Tommy worked in the office and finished up the pieces of hardwood along the walls... The office hardwood is done and he got a good start on what is left in the family room.

I worked on grouting the floor of the master shower... Grouting is officially DONE in the master bathroom.  That is great!

Afterwords, I worked on sanding the mantel to get it ready for finishing...

Then we went to Home Depot and did some returns... a bunch of plumbing stuff... the lady wasn't happy!  and then we spent it again...

When we got back Tommy put some Tung oil on the mantel... it looks fantastic!

MASTER BATH GROUT...

I was home alone today so I worked some more on the grout in the master bathroom... I finished all the grouting in the shower except for the floor and I finished all the other grout outside of the shower including the floor... Almost finished with this crazy bathroom!

We were supposed to get connected to the sewer today... but because of the Blizzard the contractor canceled. :( Maybe next week! This has been the longest process! We just want to connect to the sewer, how hard can that be!

TILE IS DONE :)

Tonight we finished the tile in the master bathroom. Tommy finished up the tiles on the wall around the area for the handheld shower and some other pieces on the floor. I put the tiles on the countertop and now we are OFFICIALLY done with the tile!!! yay!

COMPLETED FRONT PORCH

I continued to work on the tile in the master shower today... didn't get as much done as yesterday but Tommy helped me out and got some of the more difficult parts done. I installed the tumbled stone on the curving top ledge and he cut some intricate pieces for the swoosh at the top.

Tom's dad finished up the front porch... He made a ring to cover the hole where the light fixture went, sealed it, and then later in the day he installed it.

Tommy worked some more on trimwork. He built the tops for the two windows in the master bathroom and installed crown molding in the skylight area of the master bathroom and finished the rest of the crown in the bathroom.

MASTER SHOWER and CROWN

I tiled today until all I saw were tiles... The small 3"x3" tiles that we cut a few months ago were on my to do list today... I got all the walls tiled by the end of the day... they only parts I didn't do were the pieces that needed some funkier cuts along the tumbled stone... The tiles worked really well on the curved walls....

Tommy was all over today doing trim work. His dad made the keystone for over the front door and that got installed. He finished up the trimwork on the eyebrow over the center garage door. He installed some crown molding in the master bathroom and put the crown molding on either side of the fireplace.

Tom's dad worked on the front porch... finishing up the siding and making the azek corbel pieces for the front door.

CROWN LIGHITING

Tom's parents were here today. They worked on the siding on the front porch (unfortunately I did not get a picture)... and Tom's mom cleaned up around the house... this morning the master bedroom looked like a tornado went thru, but when I walked in tonight it was soooo CLEAN!!! yay!

Tommy worked on the floating crown in the master bedroom tray ceiling. We had wedges cut at the spring angle of the crown a long time ago that he nailed up and then he nailed the crown to that... turned out really great... and of course he couldn't go to sleep without putting the rope light in and checking it out... It came out perfect.

I worked in the master bathroom some more. I put the little pencil molding around as the basemolding and then I put the crown type tile going up the curved wall... need lots of tape to hold them up...

Today Tommy finished up the other access panel... The second one is on the tub suround to access the GFI and the motor...

I worked on the tile baseboard inside the shower and Tommy cut a few pieces for me.

BACK TO THE BATHROOM

Today we worked in the Master Bathroom again. Tommy worked on the access panel for behind the shower... we need access to that triangular section to get to the manifold for the shower nozzles, the manifold for the heat and an outlet. We found some sheetrock clips at home depot that slip over the sheetrock and hold the panel in place perfectly... I worked in the shower itself putting up the continuation of the border that we have around the entire bathroom. I had to tape the pieces up to get them to stay but it worked out

FRONT PORCH SLATE I

It was raining outside thismorning so we went back inside to the master bath. Tommy worked on the mosaic around the shower jets and then he put a band of kerdi around the entire shower floor.
Meanwhile I finished up some of the tile around the vanity and put some tiles around the windows over the tub.

When it got nicer we cut tile for the front porch and started to lay it... It looks pretty good... love the pattern too!

STONE VENEER

Tonight we stopped at H.K. Buzby in Lebanon (a masonry place) and chose the stone for the front of the house. We will probably order from another, much cheaper place, but Buzby has all the samples that you can put a deposit down on so you can take it home and check it out.

When we got home Tom laid the second half of the kerdi on the floor of the master shower.

FRONT STAIR BLOCKWORK

Today the front stairs were finished. Tom and his dad finished laying the blocks. Tom's mom searched for rocks to fill the cores with and then they filled them with mortar. We ended up with 5 risers and 4 treads. We can finally use the FRONT DOOR!

Meanwhile I worked inside. I put tile on the wall behind the vanity, but I ran out of the border material and eventhough I went to Home Depot to get that and more glue they boys were using the levels so I decided to leave it off. Instead I grouted the curved wall. It was scary putting the grout on because that quartzite tile is rough and it seemed like the grout would never come off because it turned the quartzite white, but it did and it looks good.
