CATCH UP POST

I have left out a lot of things that have been done in the last few weeks.  The sheetrock in the basement is all up and spackled... Tom's mom put primer and painted... and the lights are installed in the stairwell...

We have also gotten all the fixtures installed in the master shower... It looks awesome and taking a shower in it is awesome!!! The shower was soooo worth all the work!

RAILING

The railing was finished today!!! and it looks great.  Now we don't have to worry about Otis, but of course Hooper hates it!

RAILING BEGINS

The stair guys were here today working on the railing.  They got the posts in on the bridge and have a few of the Brazilian cherry rail pieces finished.  yay!

Oh and look at the pretty hanging Chandelier... Tommy got that installed with a little smarts...  :)

LINEN CLOSET

We worked on some random things today... Tommy put the trimwork on the bridge... all the base molding and some crown on the tops of the columns.  I made some touch up with paint and then I put up some molding in the linen closet to hold up the shelves...

STAIR LANDING

Tommy worked on the first stair landing today...  It is the curved one so it wasn't fun.  First he had to shim up shim up the staircase and then he laid the flooring... He could only go so far and then he used a template to route the curved edge... And then glue down the nosing...  It looks great.

Then he worked on the curve on the bridge... He made a template for the curve and set it up in the right position... then he had the fun job of routing the Brazilian cherry. 

I vacuumed up the entire upstairs... Then I cleaned the up the Jack & Jill Bathroom and the two J&J bedrooms.. I wiped down all the moldings and the doors from the dust... cleaned off the window sills... and the radiators, and then wiped down the walls... cleaned off the glass for the light fixtures and wiped down the bathroom vanity... Just need to clean the windows, both inside and out.  And I hung up the sconces in the master bedroom.

 

Work...work...work...

Today we got some things done...

Tom's dad put the last piece of sheetrock in the basement stairwell and then sanded the walls and ceilings in the stairwell.

Tom's mom put primer on the sheetrock walls in the basement and has it ready for some "oops" paint!

Tom worked on the the bridge some more.  He got all the hardwood finished on the bridge and the curved sections the hardwood is glued down and will be ready to cut out the curve tomorrow.

I fixed up some cracked caulk on the crown molding and made some paint touchups.

SPACKLE

Tom's parents were at the house today... they sanded the spackle in the basement and put more where needed...

We didn't do much when we got home... We went to Home Depot to pick up a sheet of sheetrock and made some returns... lots of money back!

BRIDGE

Tonight after work we continued working on the bridge... lookin good!

BRIDGE FLOORING

Today we continued to work on the bridge... finishing up the nosing and then figuring out how to start the flooring... by the end of the day (we quit a little early to relax) we had a few rows done...

We put the little heating pad in the dog bed because Otis is a little cold since we don't keep the house very warm... well today Hooper decided it was his bed too...

ICY MORNING...

On Saturday Tom's parents and his uncle came down.  His dad and uncle worked in the basement... they sanded the other coats of spackle and put on another coat... everything is looking good... one more sanding and light coat of spackle when this dries and we are ready for primer and paint!

 

Tom's mom worked on painting... she painted each of the closets and cleaned up the paint and then she went around with ceiling paint and made some touch-ups... she won't let me take pictures though...

I puttied and caulked the entrance to the sitting room....

Tom's dad picked up the stair nosing yesterday from the stair guy so Tom worked on installing that today... it looks nice!
