LUKE COMES HOME :)

Luke came home tonight.  I called the nursery this afternoon and the nurse and doctor both talked to me and told me that he was coming home to mommy and daddy tonight.  So after he had a car seat test this afternoon we went to pick him up at 5:30!!!  So happy to have our baby home with us!

Luke wore his Hooper Dog outfit home tonight... Hooper isn't quite sure what this tiny thing is, but he seems to be concerned when he cries...

Aunt Debbie made this crochet blanket for Luke.  It is beautiful and he seems to enjoy it!

We can't get enough of him!  He has daddy's hands for sure... they have the same nail shape and hangnails!

Well, since I was out of the hospital we decided to take a drive to shop for granite.  We found what we wanted... New Colonial Dream for a great price so we should have granite soon!

Discharge for Mommy

I was discharged today... :(

It is really heartbreaking to leave your baby at the hospital but you just have to keep reminding yourself that it is what is best for him.  The hospital did provide us a room in the pediatric ward to stay until Lucas is discharged, we moved our stuff over there, but it was sort of creepy so we decided to go home.

Luke stays at the hospital to get some antibiotics because he started breathing really heavy on Saturday night and so Tommy brought him to the nursery.  They did some tests and turns out he has an infection, doctors believe he inhaled some amniotic fluid during delivery.

LUCAS JOZEF BLYSKAL is BORN

We had some tough choices to make this morning.  The cervadil did nothing to dilate or soften me so they started pitocin early this morning.  Unfortunately my bloodwork came back that my platelets are still low and I will likely not be able to have an epidural during vaginal delivery and if I need a csection later on I will have to have general anesthesia (that means completely knocked out with a tube down your throat to make you breath).  After talking to the doctor about our options and deciding that it wasn't likely that this induction was going to work we decided to at least have a controlled delivery and so we opted for a csection with the spinal anesthesia.  No sooner did we tell the doctor and it seemed like we were in the OR.

Lucas Jozef Blyskal was born at 12:17 on the first day of fall, weighing in at 7lbs 2ozs and 20 inches long.  Love at first sight... couldn't believe all the hair and we were right, we got a BOY!

Being Induced

I went to the Doctor yesterday afternoon at 2:10 and my blood pressure was high so they sent me to labor and delivery triage to be monitored.  The put a contraction belt and belt to show baby's heartrate and then they took some blood.  Turns out my bloodwork showed that my platelets are low, something to do with blood clotting so they kept me overnight for observation.  Well, in the morning they drew blood again but the doctor came in before the results were back telling me I was going to go home and take it easy and wait for baby... Well about 30 minutes later the nurse came in and said "let's have a baby".  Apparently my  bloodwork came back and said that my platelets dropped even more so they were going to induce me.  I got cervadil at 11am and it is a 12 hour dose.

Bruise

We were working on cabinets today... unfortunately for Tommy he got a little too comfortable with the table saw and a piece of plywood flung into his belly... knocked the wind out of him and left him with a nice bruise...
